Get the Goreto App ↗This Saturday we hike to Kaskikot on the auspicious day of Fulpati. Kaskikot is a historic hilltop associated with the Shah dynasty and home to the sacred Guptakalika Temple.
On Fulpati, the traditional Sarun Khel (sword-and-shield battle training) is performed by Chhetri soldiers. Soldiers prepare from the Durbar with Panchebaja and come dancing with swords. The Fulpati doli brought from Ramghat is also entered into the Kot Mandir with special rituals.
We start early from Bindabasini Chowk, hike toward Sarangkot, continue along the ridge to Kaskikot, and have lunch along the way. We expect to arrive around 2 PM for the Sarun and Fulpati ceremonies. After the programme, we return by bus to the same starting point.

Yangjakot is a culturally rich Gurung village known for its distinctive cluster of nearly 300 houses. Gurung and Magar families call the village home, carrying local stories, traditional music and customs.
Historically, Yangjakot holds significance from the time of the 22–24 Rajya period. The trail offers village walks, scenic paths, mountain views and genuine community interaction. The area also sits along routes toward Sikles and Krapu Danda.
We start with a bus ride from Kahun Khola to Tangting Bridge at Jyamdu, climb via Thumako Dada into Yangjakot, explore the village clusters and Kot Temple, have lunch, then descend through Tarkang toward Bhaise for the return bus.
